## How to use a LinkedIn post template without sounding like a template

Three steps. The template gets you past the blank page. The specifics still have to come from you.

1. **Pick by what you have, not by what went viral.** Start from your material. A story template needs something that happened to you. A lessons template needs three or more points you believe. Filter by category, then pick the one whose slots you could fill tonight without making anything up.
2. **Fill every slot with a specific.** Each [slot] says what that line has to do. Replace it with the real detail: the number, the name, the thing someone said to you. If a slot asks for something you do not have, cut the line. A shorter true post beats a padded one.
3. **Break the template where your post needs it.** Read it out loud before you post. Merge lines that say the same thing, drop the ones that feel forced, and rewrite the first line until it sounds like you talking. People spot a template when every line does exactly what the skeleton told it to.

## Where these templates come from

Every template here started as a real LinkedIn post. We took 147 posts from 68 creators, all with at least 1,000 likes. The likes run from 1,006 to 91,197, the median post has 2,152, and no creator has more than 4 templates, so no single style sets the tone of the library.

We read every source post in full before it went in. Sales pitches came out, so did posts that only make sense with their image, anything already on our LinkedIn post examples page, and anything about politics, health or grief.

Then an AI model did three jobs. It broke each post down line by line: what every section is for, roughly how long it runs, and the original line it came from. It gave the template a name and a short description. And it turned the breakdown into the fill-in skeleton you see, with a [slot] for every line and none of the original wording.

Every template credits the person who wrote the original, with a link to their profile, the date it went up, and its real like and comment counts. The full breakdown quotes the original post line by line, which is why the credit sits there as well.

## The templates

147 templates, sorted by the source post's likes. Every [slot] says what goes on that line.

Category: Framework

```text
[Counter-intuitive truth about your industry]
[Person of authority] told me this recently:
[Direct quote illustrating a common pain point]
That problem is everywhere.
[Symptom 1]
[Symptom 2]
[Symptom 3]
[Status quo] matters. It always has. But transformation fails without balance.
But when we focus only on [current method], we optimize for [shallow outcome] rather than [true success].
It is like [simple analogy].
[Method] is designed for:
1. [Outcome 1]
2. [Outcome 2]
3. [Outcome 3]
That discipline is good. But it ignores:
1. [Missing factor 1]
2. [Missing factor 2]
3. [Missing factor 3]
These are [category of problem] issues, not [current method] issues.
Real growth is about [definition of success].
When we ignore these gaps:
1. [Negative 1]
2. [Negative 2]
3. [Negative 3]
So metrics look great, but the business stays flat.
Instead, focus on:
1. [New focus 1]
2. [New focus 2]
3. [New focus 3]
[Long term vision statement].
[Question that invites readers to share their own experience].
## The anatomy of a LinkedIn post: hook, body, close
Most posts that travel have three parts. Every template here has them too, even when the parts look different.
- **Hook.** The hook is whatever shows before "...more". On mobile that is roughly 140 characters or 2 lines, whichever runs out first. On desktop it is about 210 characters or 3 lines. It is the only part of the post everyone sees, so a template's first slot is the one worth rewriting five times. Free tool: [LinkedIn hook generator](https://www.ghostwriting-ai.com/tools/linkedin-hook-generator).
- **Body.** The body pays off what the hook promised: the story, the list, the steps or the argument. Short paragraphs with a blank line between them keep it easy to skim. Check where the fold lands before you post, and add bold or bullets only where they help someone scanning. Free tool: [LinkedIn post preview](https://www.ghostwriting-ai.com/tools/linkedin-post-preview), [LinkedIn text formatter](https://www.ghostwriting-ai.com/tools/linkedin-text-post-formatter).
- **Close.** The close is one line: the lesson, a question worth answering, or what to do next. Nothing after it. LinkedIn caps a post at 3,000 characters, which is more room than most good posts need. Free tool: [LinkedIn character counter](https://www.ghostwriting-ai.com/tools/linkedin-character-counter).
[One line: the role you just started, and where]
[What made you say yes, in one or two sentences]
[The first thing you plan to work on]
[A thank-you to the people who got you here, by name]
[What you'd like to hear from people in your network]
```

### Promotion announcement

Skip the humblebrag. One real moment from the work does more than a list of adjectives.

```text
[The new title, stated plainly]
[One specific moment from the work that led here]
[Who taught you the thing that mattered most]
[What changes for your team now]
[One line on what you're taking into the new role]
```

### Hiring post

Describe the job the way you would to a friend who might want it.

```text
[The role, the team, and whether it's remote]
[What this person will own in their first 90 days]
[Two or three things you're looking for, in plain words]
[One thing that isn't required, so good people still apply]
[How to apply]
```

### Work anniversary

Make it about the work and the people, not the number of years.

```text
[How many years, and at which company]
[Where things stood the week you joined]
[The project or moment you're proudest of]
[What you'd tell yourself on day one]
[A thank-you to the people who made it worth staying]
```

### Product launch

Lead with what someone can do today that they could not do yesterday.

```text
[What's live today, in one sentence]
[The problem it solves, the way a customer would describe it]
[How it works, in two or three short steps]
[The detail that took the team longest to get right]
[Where people can try it, and what feedback you want]
```

## Need a visual template instead?

A text template sets the words. If the post carries an image, the size matters as much as the copy: 1080 x 1350 for a portrait image, which takes up the most room on a phone screen, 1080 x 1080 for a square, and 1200 x 627 for the preview image on a shared link.

## Templates vs AI vs an AI clone

A template gives you a proven order of lines and nothing else. The story, the numbers and the opinion still have to come from you, and those are the parts people remember.

A general AI writing tool gives you words fast, but it has never met you. Give it a thin prompt and it fills the gaps with things you never said, which is why so many AI posts read alike.

An AI clone starts from you. Oiti, the AI clone for LinkedIn content, learns from what you have already written and the notes you give it, so the draft starts from your facts and the way you put things. Templates teach you the shapes. A clone does the filling in.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is a LinkedIn post template?
A LinkedIn post template is the structure of a post with the content taken out. Each line of the original becomes a [slot] that says what goes there, so you keep the order and the job of every line and fill it with your own details. Every template on this page was built from a real post with at least 1,000 likes.

### What is the best format for a LinkedIn post?
There is no single best one. What the posts that travel have in common is a first line that earns the "...more" tap, short paragraphs with space between them, one idea per post, and an ending that lands the point or asks a real question. Text posts, image posts and document posts can all do well. Whether the post says something specific matters more than the format.

### How do you structure a LinkedIn post?
Hook, body, close. The hook is the line or two above the fold that gives someone a reason to keep reading. The body delivers on it: the story, the list, the steps or the argument, in short paragraphs. The close is one line with the lesson, a question, or what to do next. Every template here follows that order, with more detail on what each line does.

### What are the 3-2-1 and 4-1-1 rules on LinkedIn?
They are rules of thumb for mixing what you post, not LinkedIn rules. The 4-1-1 rule comes from content marketing: out of every six posts, four share useful material from other people, one is your own content and one is a direct promotion. "3-2-1" gets used for several different splits, most often three posts that teach, two that are personal or start a conversation, and one that promotes. Neither comes from LinkedIn, and we have not found data behind either. Both do make one fair point: most of what you post should help the reader, and very little should sell.

### Are these LinkedIn post templates free?
Yes. You can read, copy and fill every template on this page without an account or an email. The one exception is filling them with AI and getting every template in one place: that lives inside Oiti, the AI clone for LinkedIn content, which starts with a 7-day free trial.

### Can AI fill in a LinkedIn post template?
Yes. Inside Oiti, the AI clone for LinkedIn content, any template becomes a draft written the way you actually talk, about what you believe in. It starts with a 7-day free trial.

### Which LinkedIn post template gets the most engagement?
None of them, on their own. Every source post here passed 1,000 likes and the counts on each template are real, but a post's reach depends on who wrote it, who follows them, when it went up and what it said. The structure may have helped those posts, but it did not make them travel. Pick the template that fits what you have to say, and judge it by your own results.

### What should you avoid posting on LinkedIn?
Posts that say nothing specific, pitches dressed up as advice, engagement bait ("comment YES if you agree"), walls of hashtags, and anything you would not say to a colleague in person. Also avoid posting someone else's story or numbers without credit. That goes for templates too: take the structure, not the words.
