## LinkedIn slideshow cover photos

LinkedIn lets some members rotate up to five images in the background slot instead of one. According to LinkedIn Help, it comes with Premium Business, Sales Navigator and Recruiter, and you set it up from the same camera icon on your profile, on desktop or in the app.

Every background on this page works as a slide. Pick three to five that share a palette, so the rotation looks like one banner changing its mind rather than five different people. Each slide still sits behind your profile photo, so the same bottom left rule applies to all of them.

## How to add a background photo on LinkedIn

Three steps, and the first two happen on this page.

1. **Pick a background.** Filter by style or jump to your profession. Leave "Show profile photo" on to see roughly where your photo will sit.
2. **Download it, or add your name first.** Download saves the JPG at 1584 x 396. Edit in banner maker opens it with your name and role on top, ready to export.
3. **Upload it on LinkedIn.** On desktop or in the app, tap the camera or pencil icon on your current background, choose the file, drag it into place and save. It goes live straight away.

## What makes a good LinkedIn background

Your background is the widest thing on your profile and the least read. People glance at it for a second, next to your face, before they get to your headline. All it has to do in that second is set a mood that fits the person in the circle.

Keep the bottom left calm. Your profile photo covers roughly that corner on desktop, and a busy pattern behind a face makes both harder to look at. Every background here puts its detail on the right for that reason.

Assume the edges will be cropped. A phone shows a narrower slice than a laptop, so nothing that matters should live at the far left or right.

If you add your name or a tagline, it needs a quiet stretch of background to sit on. Small text over a busy photo is close to unreadable on a phone.

For the exact dimensions and what each screen crops, [read the LinkedIn banner size guide](https://www.ghostwriting-ai.com/posts/linkedin-banner-size).

## Frequently asked questions

### What size should a LinkedIn cover photo be?
1584 x 396 pixels, a 4:1 ratio, as a JPG or PNG under 8 MB. Every background on this page is already that size. The LinkedIn banner size guide covers what each screen crops.

### Are these LinkedIn banner images free to use?
Yes. Free for personal and commercial use, no credit needed. Please don't resell them or repost them as a background collection.

### How do I add a background photo to my LinkedIn profile?
Open your profile, tap the camera or pencil icon on the current background, choose Add photo or Change photo, pick the file, position it and save. It works the same on desktop and in the app.

### Why does my LinkedIn background look cropped on my phone?
Phones show a narrower slice of the background than a desktop screen, so the far left and right edges get trimmed. Keep anything important near the middle.

### What is a good background photo for LinkedIn?
One that sets a mood without competing with your face. In practice that means a calm bottom left, since your profile photo covers it, and nothing important near the edges. If you plan to add text, leave it an empty patch to sit on.

### Can I add my name or text to a background?
Yes. Click Edit in banner maker on any background and it opens in the free LinkedIn banner maker with your name, role and website on top. The export is still 1584 x 396.

### What is a LinkedIn slideshow cover, and how many images can it have?
A background that rotates between up to five images instead of showing one. LinkedIn Help lists it for Premium Business, Sales Navigator and Recruiter members. Any background on this page can be one of the slides.

### Why won't LinkedIn let me change my background photo?
Usually it's the file. LinkedIn takes a JPG or PNG under 8 MB, so a HEIC photo straight off an iPhone or a very large PNG can be refused. The downloads here are JPGs well under that limit.

### How do I save a background on an iPhone?
Tap Download, open the file, then tap Share and Save Image. It lands in Photos, where the LinkedIn app can pick it up.
